On Friday I went to costume party in the quad of my Arts building. The dress code was SUPER VILLIAN! and I went as Sweeney Todd as he was the only character I could pull off. I've done him three times now and I'm getting a bit sick of it... But he's ze only von I have ze clothes for!
Anyway. This afternoon I finished up this 1500 word essay due for Monday's Visual Studies class and for the past three hours I was supposed to study for my Ancient Cultures test also for Monday. But I didn't. (I did do the essay though. phew!) And here I am, highly regretting it. I also just had a fight with my brother so I don't want to go downstairs and procrastinate there by stuffing my face. :(
Did you know that the Ancient Near East is that Orient nearest to the Europe? And the Ancient world is catergorised as the time period circa 3000 BC to 650 AD before the rise of Islam. Circa means approximately. And the first writing systems were developed in Egypt and Mesopotamia (sort of the area where Iraq is now) which marks the advent of recorded history. Before that it was just pictures. PICTURES! Sorry, I've been in front of the PC too long and I should probably go study...
I must apologise for this deathly boring post. Next week I'll hopefully be in better spirits. I'm also looking for a place to stay on campus (not res! I refuse!) and the pure hoplessness of it drains me...Places are so expensive the closer they are to campus. It's like prime real estate in New York or something even if the rooms are cages made from brick.
Well cheerios! Off to studying! Yay...

FRRRRRRREEEEEDOM!
"Turpentine induced headache, stained hands, tired of seeing my bad linocut, nauseous, but at least it's almost weekend! Yay weekend!" (R. Hugo 2011 Feb)
That quote is my facebook update for today. I'm in fact qouting myself. Which is of course stupid. Which is of course why I don't want to learn the damned Harvard referencing method because it tells us that using our own opinions/ and reasoning twice for different essays means we are in fact commiting the heinous crime of plagarism...against ourselves. I have never heard of anything stupider.
Anyhoo's. The new art project I was so excited about? Yeah, not so excited anymore. I might sound contradictive by saying this but I hate getting my hands dirty when I do art. And not in the figurative sense of asking someone else to kill off your competition (which I have a lot of) but in the literal cat shaking it's paws when it gets wet sense. We basically have a tile of linoleum(linoneum?) which we carve an image into. We then roll on this special linocut printing ink, sandwich it between two sheets of paper, put it through this big roller press and voila! Instant print! Now that's the fun part.
Cleaning up takes more than double the tme it takes to print; we have to use turpentine to clean our roller, our tile, our board, ourselves...The ink sticks to everything and thus my prints have monkey paw smudges on the edges. My prints were also coming out either too dappled, too dark, or had these little marks because specks of dust got into the grooves. And my etching/carving itself sucks. This project sucks. My fingers are still stained after at least several washes. I'm a bit high on turpentine (if that's even possible) and you could've had the whole gist of this story by just reading the first paragraph at the top! la la di doo di da. Screw this! I'm not doing another print even if I get the worst marks in the class for it! (triumphant laughter)
The graphic arts peoplez are doing self portraits a la traditional. I finally talked with one of them after a spout of jealous staring. The girl laughed and said our roles should be switched. I want to draw and paint! I...I...
If you're interested check out my other blog fragile eternities where I rave about my favourite artists and books.
I've also been on a popcorn spree. I'm the ultimate popcorn maker extradonaire if I must say so myself. I must; it's my blog.

Sushi
I didn't know University would be keeping me this busy and we haven't even started proper work yet!
I already have a test/quiz on Monday for Ancient Studies and although it's very fascinating I couldn't give a damn who Sargon the Great was. Get to the good stuff! Mythology is the only reason I took this class!
I've also received my first Art project brief which I'm really excited about. We're doing printing! Booja!
I'm putting off studying for that quiz but I'm too lazy to even make this post halfway presentable and I can't upload those photo's like I promised either because I can't find the usb cables for the camera. >__<
Last night I ate sushi...My parentals ate prawns...
Prawns are also bottom feeders i.e. They feed on waste. So choose the ethical...and healthier option when eating seafood.
PS I eat sushi without the fish, just FYI. Nori counts as seafood right? Right???
GLOOOOOSH! Taking pets to vet! About time.
Ciao!

Faery posh
I'm going to show off some of my spectacular art today because it's really the only thing I can brag about.
But that would only take a long time for your PC, and mine, to load on blogger so here's the link:

I said on Monday that I would post up that recipe. Well, something came up i.e. mental breakdown. I kind of have these regularly but usually in the comfort of my own home. Something small usually starts it off as explained in: hyperboleandahalf. Basically I was tired, sunburnt and angry at myself for forgetting my ID at home(minor details but it added up). So when my friend, who's also tired, sunburnt and angry, raised her voice only slightly at me I unreasonably flipped, taking offence. Now when I flip it's usually very quiet and very pathetic.
So I walked on ahead like an angry snot nosed brat not promised her deluxe sugar coned ice cream, sniffling and hoping to be heard though at the same time deeply mortified. I almost walked into a car as well and later, when we went to sit down under a tree tears streaming down my face, with a red nose and looking more than usually unattractive I sulked more than I have ever done before yet in the full knowledge that I had screwed up royally and needed to apologise.
I did though very half heartedly but she and my other friend joked about random things to cover it up making me feel like more of an ass because I had been so despicably horrible. I have never acted so immaturely before in my life and hope to never do so again. Good thing only the occasional motorist saw my shame, and one cyclist gave me look of disgust or at least that's what I thought in my pity induced daze. o__O
Anyhoo's...Tomorrow is Vensters, the yearly street theatre day on campus where every hostel, PSO group shows off their stuff and have fun. I will post up one or two cool photo's on the weekend to show you guys just how much fun. Check out:
'Nuff said
Weeeeeeeeeeeee!
PS I promise I will post something less boring next time. Super sulk mode is officially over! Yay!

Hot
It's been another deep pan fry day. My friend and I stood in a relatively short queue to get our mugshots...I mean our pictures taken for our student cards. My mugshot...yes, let's face it; that's what it really looked like. Add another fish to the fruit smoothie: I looked like a druggie...or a drug dealer. I think I prefer drug dealer but I can't deny the truth when it's staring right at me, literally.
Anyway, on the way to a meeting for all 1st year Visual Arts students I got lost...actually I was misdirected so it's not my fault. But at least I got lost with another 1st year artist...a handsome one so that made my day. He's also very nice and one of about 2 guys amongst 70 girls. So booja!

Why do I keep on talking about people who talk to themselves?
O__o
Anyhoo's, have you ever wondered what kind of person you'll be when you're finally old and wrinkled? Married with lots of grandchildren and with a successful career as a pastry chef behind you or... single? Living alone, in a house too big for you chasing children off of your lawn with a rake while your half dozens cats watch lazely from inside? And one day the neighbours will complain about the smell and the police will casually stroll up to your front door only to see the several newspapers collecting on the "Keep off!" mat. They get worried when you don't answer after three rings and decide to force entry only to find you're decimated corpse in the entrance hall and your cats swarming all over the place. And they wonder, poor old lady. She died and no one even knew. Where were her friends and family in her time of need?
As you can clearly see I'm thinking too much into this, and really underestimating my future self.
Tallyho!
PS Ma mere made sweet sticky rice today (amazingly delicious) and I'm going to post up the recipe tomorrow.

We spent the rest of the day watching youtube videos. It was hot okay, and when it's hot (36 degrees C) and windy you DO NOT go outside. You suffocate inside.

She's even funnier than meekakitty (usually) and really deserves more followers. She brings the 'talking to oneself' to whole new level...she talks to herself but past hers.

Birds and other whimsical things
"And then the pigoen walked in and said..."
I was recently inspired into doing this (above) by some wonderful art I viewed at:
Now I feel a bit more serious(a bit) as my mother has guilt tripped me into cleaning up my room, which in fact involves moving around furniture, unpacking out toys from eons ago, and cleaning out all my cupboards. On the surface my room is spotless but what hides behind closed doors (shivers)...
To get my mind off of it I did another picture with my awesome wacom tablet.

I hope none of you have to clean up your rooms today. I just can't wait to do mine...
Bacon
Well, this whole orientation business at my University is getting on my nerves...I think most people's nerves. I don't even live on campus and those that do went about today with glazed eyes, hungry for rest, not surprising seeing as they were herded around on a 'treasure hunt' in small groups on a blistering hot day where the raods are so hot you could fry bacon on them...mmm...bacon. Near the end of the day I met up with my friend, who's also my lift back home, while we waited for our other friend to finish up at her faculty meeting. I had a splitting headache from way too much sun and she was just annoyed at having to wait...and tired, very tired. I was a bit nervous when we climbed into her car later on...
During our hour wait, our conversation pretty much went as follows:
Amy: I'm sooooo tired...
Me: (hysterically giggling) Braaaaaaains...
Amy: Braaaaains....
Me: (coughing till it feels as if my spleen will jump out of my throat) Gah!
Amy: (looking mildly worried) Do you still have that weird asian flu?
Me: :3 (estatic) Yay! You're finally calling it that! (high pitched giggle)
Amy: (edging away)
Me: I can't help it! When I'm really tired I become really weird
Amy: T__T
Me: Okay, more than normally. I'm like a drunk pers...Ack! My eyes! It burrrrrnssss...(I finally collapse into silence...which unfortunately for her doesn't last long)

On a more interesting note: Check out meekakitty
who has a..err strange but funny take on vblogging...
She talks to herself
Not that that's a new thing in my experience. I seem to be my best friend and arch nemesis at the same time...my cat's my sidekick but refuses to take sides. But I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know what's up and down anymore, not after she sort of frothed at the mouth the other day...Hmm...I almost forgot about that.
I had an appointment with Mr Tea today. He promised to take away my headache. He lied
LIES! IT'S ALL LIIIIES!
